CIC 10th anniversary celebrations

Speakers and attendees from the URV were present at the event to discuss the topics of internationalisation, alumni, international promotion and market research

The International Relations Committee of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia celebrated its 10th Anniversary on November 16-17 in Barcelona, with an international seminar that was opened officially by Francesc Xavier Grau, former rector of the URV, and Arcadi Navarro, secretary for Universities and Research of the Catalan Government. The director general of Universities, Josep Pallarès, former professor and vice-rector of the URV, was also present for the occasion, as were representatives of the Catalan Association of Public Universities.

International speakers were also invited to the event to present their experiences. The keynote speech was given by Fiona Hunter, associate director of the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Dora Longoni talked about the Politecnico di Milano’s Internationalisation Strategy and experiences. Gretchen Dobson, International Alumni Relations, and Joao Bacelar, from the European University Foundation, also gave presentations. Topics were on trends in Internationalisation, definitions of Internationalisation, recruiting international students, comprehensive Internationalisation, international alumni, models and strategies of Internationalisation, support services for international students and future challenges.

Mar Gutiérrez-Colón, vice-rector for Internationalisation at the URV also attended the event and was a moderator on one of the main round tables. Marina Casals, director of International Relations at the URV presented the URV’s Internationalisation at Home Strategy. Vice-rectors and directors of international relations from all Catalan universities were present at the event, which successfully highlighted the importance of Internationalisation for Catalan universities.
