Meet the Unit for the Promotion of Research, Innovation and Regional Development

Research at the URV and our related research centres is mainly funded externally and our researchers compete for national and international funding that in 2015 alone was worth €29 million. Knowledge, close cooperation and quality relations with local, national and international organizations are the keys to improving the performance of URV research teams and to providing the necessary support for inter-institutional projects

Under the guidelines of Josep Manel Ricart, the Vice-rector for Scientific Policy and Research, and Miquel Àngel Bové, the Vice-rector for Transfer and Innovation, the Unit for the Promotion of Research, Innovation and Regional Development supports and promotes research in different areas of expertise. The team is coordinated by Ignasi Salvadó and its members are García, Mar Baiget, Daniel Ferrer, Neus Franco, Cristina Andrade, Aleyois Haro, Bogdan Nae, Ana Estellés and Paloma Pontón.

The Unit’s daily work is related to seeking funding opportunities, promoting funds among researchers, writing project proposals and locating potential partners for future projects. Each team member deals with a specific area of expertise or research profile, although team work and the exchange of ideas and resources is very common.

Regarding international public funds, the Unit focuses mainly on the Horizon 2020 programme, but we also offer advice on Erasmus+, Interreg-SUDOE and ERDF funds. Our H2020 experts can support you in the preparation of proposals for funding offered in the ambits of the European Research Council (ERC), Marie-Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA), Information and Communication Technologies, Health, Food and Bioeconomy, Socioeconomic Sciences and Humanities (including Industrial Leadership and Societal Challenges calls).

At national, regional and local level, the Unit’s emphasis is on providing support to attract talent (ICREA, Martí Franqués PostDoc and COFUND), to promote international research opportunities (Europa Investigación, EXIT), and to promote technology and knowledge transfer (Torres Quevedo, Emplea). It is important to mention that the Unit plays an important role in defining the URV’s Strategic Plan for Research and Innovation of the URV.

One of the Unit’s most visible actions is the organization of events for promoting research innovation and cooperation, such as the Infoday on how to prepare an application for a Marie-Sklodowska Curie Action.

The majority of the Unit’s activities are done under the umbrella of the Office of Tarragona Region of Knowledge, in collaboration with Diputació de Tarragona.

It is important to remark that the Unit is mainly externally funded. Therefore, the support offered by the Unit is subject to changes. Researchers, companies, and innovators are welcome to visit us and participate in our activities. We are always looking for ways to offer you the best-quality support.
