The URV has participated in the European Association for International Education 30th Conference, which took place in Geneva from 11 to 14 September. A URV delegation headed by the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, John Style, and two members of the International Center, Marina Casals and Rebeca Tomás, attended this leading conference in the internationalisation of Higher Education, at which more than 5500 participants gather from all over the world.

The Interuniversity Council of Catalonia participated in this event with a Study in Catalonia stand, where a delegation of 47 participants from the different Catalan institutions could meet interested individuals and offer them a glass of URV cava during the Catalan Reception. The cava from the URV was very popular and, as in previous years, certainly set URV apart at a very special moment during the Conference. This year Francesc-Xavier Grau, Secretary of Universities and Research and former rector of the URV, headed an official delegation that visited the Conference and the CERN.

The URV participants held many meetings with partners, prospective partners and providers of services; attended workshops, presentations and information sessions; and also took an active role in four presentations at the conference, thus highlighting the leading role that our university plays in the ambit of internationalisation. The topics of the sessions were:

  • The role of administrative staff as agents of internationalisation
  • Ignite: What if? International education in 2050
  • Campfire: How are you internationalising your non-academic staff?
  • International Credit Mobility: strategic benefits for all stakeholders

The URV has been attending and actively participating in the EAIE Annual Conference since 2005. The Interuniversity Council of Catalonia has organised the “Study in Catalonia” stand since 2008 to promote the visibility of the Catalan university system at this event.
