This year, 230 students from 30 European countries visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. The European Student Assembly<\/a> (ESA 2023 #2ndEdition) brought together students from the European University Associations (EUA), including the Aurora Alliance<\/a>, and other partners to engage in meaningful discussions and develop recommendations for change. The 10 topics covered a wide range, including democracy, food security, sustainability, mental health, foreign policy, and skills development.<\/p>\n

During the three-day visit, panel discussions were held to refine the proposals. The students had the chance to immerse themselves in the city of Strasbourg, which serves as the capital of the European Parliament. This visit provided an opportunity for the participants to gain a deeper understanding of European governance and foster connections among students from diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n

Overall, the ESA 2023 visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg allowed students to discuss crucial topics, refine proposals, and explore the vibrant city.<\/p>\n

Aurora student representatives Lucie Badurov\u00e1 from Pal\u00e1cky University (Czech Republic) and X\u00e8nia Roviralta from Rovira i Virgili University attended to the second edition of ESA. X\u00e8nia Roviralta participated in panel 4 (Agriculture and Food Systems) and Lucie Badurov\u00e1 coordinated panel 5 (Mental Health).<\/p>\n

From farm to fork<\/h5>\n

How can local food distribution channels contribute to a fairer and more sustainable European food system? X\u00e8nia Roviralta, student of food bioprocess engineering, gained experience writing policy documents. She was a member of the Soil Health subgroup.<\/p>\n

She decided to work on this proposal because she has a focus on sustainability and climate change, and she is currently doing an internship at Pal\u00e1cky University, studying plant stress for crops of interest, she decided to work on this proposal.<\/p>\n

Each panel worked in a different room of the parliament.\u00a0In the plenary sessions, proposals were presented, exchanges and reactions were conducted through digital applications, and proposals were adopted by majority vote.\u00a0The proposals from Panels 4 and 5 were all approved.<\/p>\n

During their leisure time, participants had the opportunity to explore the city and enjoy some memorable activities together. They embarked on a thrilling treasure hunt that took them through the charming streets of Strasbourg, allowing them to discover hidden gems and create lasting memories.\u00a0Additionally, their stay at the hostel provided a fantastic opportunity for them to bond and have a great time as a group.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
