The fourteen students are studying Nursing, Nutrition, Medicine and Health System Management in the USA and are learning Spanish as a second language. Their home institution is James Madison\u00a0University (Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA) and they were at the URV\u2019s Faculty of Nursing to attend the course entitled Health Care in Spain: a Cross-cultural Exploration of Illness and Wellness Study Abroad. A welcome ceremony was held on 23 May in the Conference Room of the URV\u2019s Catalunya Campus.<\/p>\n

During their time here, the students were taught about the Spanish and Catalan health systems, learnt Spanish and acquired cultural knowledge. There were classes in Spanish and on the health systems at the Catalunya Campus and observational activities alongside URV Nursing students at the Joan XXIII University Hospital and La Muntanyeta Centre for Cerebral Palsy. The students also visited Sant Joan University Hospital in Reus, the Hospital Lleuger de Cambrils and the URV\u2019s campuses where the degree in nursing is taught.<\/p>\n

The Lifelong Learning Centre of the URV Foundation administers the Study Abroad programmes. This is the 7th time that James Madison University has participated in the Study Abroad programme at the URV.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
