In 2020, the Faculty of Oenology will host the second edition of the summer school.<\/p>\n<p>The three editions of this training activity and the three symposia form part of the project funded by the Erasmus+ programme <a href=\"http:\/\/oenobio-project.eu\/\">OENOBIO<\/a>, which is aimed at student and teaching staff mobility. The first edition took place in Germany, where 30 bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and doctoral students and 12 professors met to explore the possibilities of what is regarded as a strategic growth area in the wine sector.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64932\" src=\"http:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_005.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2256\" height=\"1608\" srcset=\"https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_005.jpg 2256w, https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_005-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_005-768x547.jpg 768w, https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_005-1024x730.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2256px) 100vw, 2256px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>European project to improve the professional development and employability of oenologists<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For these students, the summer school is an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and share their own knowledge with students and teachers from other European universities, namely the University of Bordeaux (France), which is the project coordinator, the University of Turin (Italy), and the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest (Romania), in addition to the URV and the University School of Geisenheim (Germany).<\/p>\n<p>Together the five higher education institutions, along with the oenologists\u2019 union Bio of Nouvelle-Aquitaine (France) and the wine producers\u2019 organisation Ecovin (German), make up the consortium of the OENOBIO project, which seeks to help students, future researchers and producers to improve their skills and competencies in the field of organic wine production and thus their employability and development as oenologists.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_64935\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_64935\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 1076px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_003_web.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-64935\" src=\"http:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_003_web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1076\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_003_web.jpg 1076w, https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_003_web-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_003_web-768x548.jpg 768w, https:\/\/diaridigital.urv.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Estudiants_003_web-1024x731.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1076px) 100vw, 1076px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_64935\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">OENOBIO students on one of their visits to the Geisenheim region.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The URV has sent 6 students, Alexandre Bru, Isabel Garcia,\u00a0Otger Costa, Natalie Perez, J\u00falia Mart\u00ed and Candela Ruiz, from its Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Oenology and from the Oenological Research speciality of its Master\u2019s Degree in Fermented Beverages so they can learn about the processes involved in organic wine production. Also participating in the summer school are the professors\u00a0Paco L\u00f3pez and Jaume Gramona.<\/p>\n<p>They arrived at the summer school with the knowledge they had acquired in class and at Geisenheim, they have learnt about the importance of organic wine production for obtaining a \u201cbalance between the vine and nature\u201d, explains Alexandre Bru. The school places an emphasis on practical knowledge, \u201cWe are outside for half of the course; in 30 hectares owned by the university where we learn about many different types of vine, and different systems for training, pruning and caring for them\u201d.
