Fifty students from the Spanish language training programme offered by the Centre for Hispanic Studies spent a whole week putting on activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the University community, which concluded on 31 January with a big event in the Main Lecture Theatre on the URV\u2019s Catalunya Campus.<\/p>\n

It was the first time such an event has been held at the URV, and it involved three dances: one with the performers wearing traditional costumes from Mongolia, one where they wore long sleeve costumes and one where they were dressed in the traditional costumes of the Han Chinese. The students also sang songs typical of Chinese culture and the new year.<\/p>\n

In addition to the event, during the following week until 9 February there was a new edition of the Chinese Corner, a showing of and debate about the film Dying to survive, presentations on Chinese culture and an exhibition in the classroom block of the Catalunya Campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
