Joaquín Ruiz de Arbulo Bayona
Professor of Archaeology · Department of History and History of Art
Expert in urban archaeology, researcher of Roman Tarragona and scientific collaborator in all editions of the Tarraco Viva Festival. He has worked on research projects in the ancient cities of Empúries, Rome, Ostia and Pompeii.
He researches Roman urban planning and architecture from an archaeological, economic and social perspective, as well as the archaeology of sanctuaries in the ancient world. In addition, he was a technical collaborator in the candidacy of Roman Tarragona for world heritage site status (1999-2000) and a founding member of the journal Revista d’Arqueologia de Ponent, of which he was secretary for seven years (2004-10).
