On 10 and 11 June, the III International Congress on Insurance Law was held in Tarragona, under the title “Sustainability, innovation and digitalisation: New challenges in insurance law”.
The first day addressed the role assumed by sustainability as a guiding principle of insurance activity, with the inaugural conference and the first of the round tables. Next, the problems arising from digitalisation and innovation in the insurance sector were analysed in two tables. At the end of this first day, there was a time for reflection and debate, as well as a space for communications presented by various national and international researchers, both in person and virtually.
On the second day, the Congress moved to the Port of Tarragona, and delved into the new challenges facing Insurance Law. The doctrinal contributions and the subsequent debate took place on a double level. The first is dedicated to the changes required by insurance in the terrestrial environment. The second was aimed at the problem of maritime insurance and its impact on the operation of ports.
Finally, the closing of the Congress was in charge of the President of SEAIDA, who spoke about the Rotterdam Rules and their impact on transport insurance, especially maritime.
The Congress was held within the framework of Project PID2020-117169GB-I00, funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, with the support of the Department of Private, Procedural and Financial Law, of the Faculty of Legal Sciences and the Port of Tarragona. All contributions to the Congress will be the subject of a forthcoming publication in a collective book by a prestigious legal publisher.
