Mireia Usart made new member of the governing body of the Association for Teacher Education in Europe

The appointment recognises her track record in research and teaching in educational technology at the URV and as part of the ARGET research group

The Association for Teacher Education in Europe (ATEE) is one of the leading European organisations in the field of teacher training and has a governing body made up of ten members, one of whom, as of this month, is Mireia Usart, professor and researcher at the URV’s Department of Pedagogy. Usart submitted her candidacy at the end of August at the annual conference held in Dublin and has now been elected to the administrative council, the body responsible for the association’s general policy and management.

The appointment recognises, according to Mireia Usart, the long track record of research and teaching in educational technology carried out by the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and, in particular, by the Applied Research Group in Education and Technology (ARGET), of which she is a member.

The chair of the board of directors is Agnieszka Szplit, from the University of Kielce (Poland), and the vice-chair, Ronny Smet, from the Karel de Grote Hogeschool Antwerp. The rest of the board is made up of representatives from Turkey, Ireland, the Netherlands, Ukraine and Portugal.

The ATEE aims to improve the quality of teacher education in Europe through active dialogue and the international exchange of research and practice in initial and in-service teacher training.
