Mònica Bulló will lead the Nutrition Working Group of the European Association for the Study of Obesity

Her career in the field of nutrition and her contribution to obesity research have motivated this appointment, which will be for the next three years

The professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology and ICREA researcher Mònica Bulló has been appointed director of the Nutrition Working Group of the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO). This appointment is the result of her career in the field of nutrition and her contribution to obesity research. Bulló also directs the URV Environmental and Toxicological Technology Centre (Tecnatox) and the research group Nutrition and Metabolic Health (NuMeH).

The EASO Nutrition Working Group is made up of experts from across Europe working on obesity-related nutrition research and practice. It aims to identify important topics in nutrition, develop evidence-based recommendations, take part in educational and awareness programmes about obesity, its complications and its impact on health policies in Europe.

Bulló has played an active role in several research projects in nutrition and will bring her experience and leadership to promote significant advances in this area. She will focus on engaging in multidisciplinary research in nutrition in Europe as well as on identifying the lines to be followed by the comprehensive approach to obesity, developing nutritional guidelines and promoting good practices in the treatment and prevention of obesity.
