Looking ahead to the new Internationalisation Strategic Plan

"I believe the strategic plan should consider several aspects, such as digitisation to enhance productivity, process simplification, and the full exploitation of networks, particularly the Aurora network"

International Vision 2025, the URV’s strategic plan launched in 2020 to internationalise the university, is nearing its conclusion. Spearheaded by Vice-Rector John Style, with the collaboration of the International Center led by Marina Casals, the plan has been structured around four main pillars: mobility, the internationalisation of the institution, the social commitment of the institution, and internationalisation at home.

In the meeting of the University Senate in May 2025, we will present a report on the plan’s achievements. It goes without saying that our expectations were impacted by the fluctuations in mobility caused by the pandemic, although we have achieved or are in the process of achieving a significant number of our goals. Looking ahead to the preparation of the new Internationalisation Strategic Plan, we intend to adopt a combined approach involving the participation of the entire university community. This will align with the internationalization aims of the strategic plans for research, teaching, and the Learning and Research Resources Center (CRAI). The aim is to design a series of actions that will enable the university to strengthen its capacity in research and education.

I believe the strategic plan should consider several aspects, such as digitisation to enhance productivity, process simplification, and the full exploitation of networks, particularly the Aurora network. This year, the first call for seed funding was launched to support the creation of joint research groups among Aurora universities. There were 26 applications, of which 7 received funding, with URV professors participating in two of them. In January 2025, a new funding call is expected to be announced. We encourage you to apply again, as this will help create thematic micro-networks within the larger framework of Aurora 2030.
