Welcome to the last URV International Newsletter of the year

One important milestone we have just passed is the fact that it is now one year since the URV started the European Universities consortium with our colleagues from the Aurora Alliance

30 students from the different universities in the network gathered at Campus Catalunya to participate in the Aurora Design Thinking Jam.

In that time, 9 universities have come together to start to plan for a Virtual Campus in which subjects and courses will be offered in the four broad areas of Sustainability and Climate Change, Health and Well-being, Digital World and Global Citizenship and Culture, Identity and Diversity, at the same time it promotes Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The aim is to guarantee an international dimension to the university studies of ALL our students, either through summer and winter camps, on-line collaboration, hybrid courses, short stay mobility or more familiar semester-long stays. All of this will be supported with online registration and direct convalidation of course results across the consortium. This is a massive challenge for us in many areas, from academic registration, IT, teaching methodology, multilingualism, with a special emphasis on English, to name but a few. And student and staff participation in courses training activities is all further supported by the URV’s Aurora Mobility fund, which gives significant financial support to help teachers, students and administration staff become part of the Aurora reality!

In addition to this enormous effort, in November, the URV hosted an Aurora Students Design Thinking Jam for which 25 Aurora students came to Tarragona to participate, as well as the Aurora Biannual Conference for 120 delegates from our partner universities, as well as the launch of the SWAFS (Science with and for Society, Horizon 2020) project between Aurora partners. And 8 URV students have signed up to participate in the Aurora Student Champions and Aurora Ambassadors schemes for 21-22.

There are many further opportunities for training and participation in the New Year. Make sure you watch out for news of this offer on the URV Aurora website and information channels such as campus screens, posters and institutional emails.

All the best for the Christmas holidays this year, and Happy New Year. 2022 promises to be a very exciting year for the URV and for all us, internationally-speaking!!

Best Wishes!
