COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning), also referred to as virtual exchange, is a teaching and learning methodology that links a class at one educational institution with another in a different country or cultural setting. It is an intrinsically collaborative activity in which both professors need to work together and students have to work in teams with students from both institutions.
Last year in September and May, some seminars and specialized workshops identified which members of the teaching staff were willing to use and implement COIL at the URV.
The pilot group of URV teachers has received specialized training in intercultural communication management, which they can use both in COIL and in other international teaching environments. These courses will continue to be offered by the URV’s Institute of Education Sciences in the future to teaching staff willing to implementing COIL or who are simply interested. The dates for the upcoming seminars and workshops will be announced shortly.
