The student Alexandra Cherta is appointed UNICAT ambassador at the URV

Her mission is to participate in the dissemination within the University of the professional opportunities at EU institutions

The Inter-University Council of Catalonia and the Catalan Government’s delegation to the EU have created the UNICAT project with the aim of creating a network of ambassadors at several Catalan universities to strengthen the figure of the EU Careers ambassador.

The Catalan university system and the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the European Union have created the project Ambassador UNICAT, with the aim of establishing a network of ambassadors at several Catalan universities to reinforce the figure of the EU Careers ambassador. Alexandra Cherta, a student on the 4th year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management (Faculty of Business and Economics), has been chosen by the URV as the UNICAT ambassador at the URV for the 2017/18 academic year.

Spain has ambassadors on the EU Careers programme, the Catalan university system as a whole has two ambassadors and each university has also appointed one. The programme is coordinated by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO), which is responsible for recruiting staff on behalf of all EU Institutions and agencies, including the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission. EU Careers ambassadors are responsible for informing universities in the system about career opportunities at European institutions.

The ambassador performs through the following actions:

  • Providing support for events organised to promote professional opportunities at EU institutions.
  • Answering any questions from students at the URV regarding access to internships and/or employment at EU institutions.
  • Maintaining an active presence on the social networks.

The delegation of UNICAT ambassadors has been invited to attend a training day at Brussels on 24 and 25 October, including a guided visit to the European Institutions based in the city and the Catalan Government’s delegation to the EU. To be appointed a UNICAT ambassador, an individual must demonstrate strong communicative, creative, organisational and linguistic skills. This year, nine Catalan universities have a UNICAT ambassador (EPSO).
