Researcher Susana Borràs will represent the university at this summit held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The aim is to adopt a “Pact for the Future,” negotiated at the intergovernmental level and focused on actionable outcomes
This international conference seeks to reach an agreement structured around sustainable development and development financing, international peace and security, science, technology and innovation, digital cooperation, youth and future generations, and the transformation of global governance. Each of these topics will be debated in an interactive dialogue involving states and various civil society actors attending the conference. Additionally, the “Pact for the Future” will include annexes such as a Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations.
The URV will be participating and will be represented by Professor Susana Borràs, a researcher in the Department of Public Law. She will first be involved in the Action Days leading up to the Future Summit (September 20 and 21), before taking an active role in the interactive dialogue on international peace and security (September 22 and 23). Borràs is an expert in issues such as migration, climate refugees, and ecosocial justice, among others.
Through coordination with the United Nations Platform on Harmony with Nature, Professor Borràs will address the United Nations General Assembly in New York. She will advocate for the protection of nature as a means to ensure international peace and security.
