The URV takes ninth position in the CYD ranking

The University is awarded the highest score for its performance in 18 out of the 34 indicators evaluated by the Fundació Conocimiento y Desarrollo (CYD), in particular for its contribution to regional development and research

According to the ranking published on 9 May by the Fundació Conocimiento y Desarrollo (Knowledge and Development Foundation –CYD), the Universitat Rovira i Virgili has been ranked in the group of highest performers in 18 out of the 34 indicators analysed, and placed in the intermediate group for a further 14 indicators. The ranking analyses Spanish universities in terms of their performance in five ambits: teaching and learning; research; knowledge transfer; internationalisation; and contribution to regional development.

In the overall ranking the URV is in 9th position out of the 73 Spanish universities analysed and in particular stands out in two of the five ambits. In terms of contribution to regional development, the URV is in 2nd position, which it shares with another seven universities. In the research ambit it is in 4th position, alongside the Universitat de Girona and the Universitat Jaume I in Castelló. In this ambit, the URV is in the highest performing group in 6 out of the 8 indicators. Regarding the remaining indicators, for internationalisation, the URV is in 9th position, the same as the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat de Navarra, for knowledge transfer it is in 16th position and for teaching and learning it is in 22nd position alongside the Universidad de Oviedo.

This is the fifth edition of the CYD ranking regarding the contribution made by Spanish universities to development. It is coordinated by the professor of Applied Economics Martí Parellada and is based on the objectives and methodology of the U-Multirank created by the European Commission. It includes 73 Spanish universities from all regions of Spain. The 15 universities with the highest number of high performance indicators are located in Catalonia, Valencia, Madrid, Navarre and the Basque Country.
