CRAI publishes a guide on the castells

The result of a collaboration between CRAI and the URV Chair for the Study of the Castells, it is available online and contains resources and interesting information about the world of castells

Coinciding with the fifteenth anniversary of the declaration of castells as Intangible Heritage of Humanity (November 16, 2010), the CRAI campus Catalonia and the URV Chair for the Study of the Fet Casteller have produced a guide to the world of castells. It is an educational resource available online in open access that provides a wide selection of information and resources to learn about the casteller event in all its dimensions.

The guide is aimed at all types of public interested in the subject and is conceived as a very visual tool that allows you to locate information in an easy and structured way through five large sections.

The first two are a collection of bibliographical, educational and audiovisual resources on the casteller world. On the one hand, the first section contains all the bibliographical resources available in the CRAI collection classified by topic. It also includes a selection of freely accessible teaching resources and the final degree and master’s theses deposited in the URV repository, as well as the doctoral theses defended at the URV. On the other hand, the second section provides a selection of audiovisual resources available online; from documentaries to current casteller radio and television programs.

The importance of the casteller event at the URV is made visible in the third section of the guide. There you can find all the initiatives around the casteller world that are promoted by the University: the URV Chair for the Study of the Fet Casteller, the Pataquers casteller group and the Castells de Ciència scientific dissemination project.

Finally, the guide, which is an open project that is periodically updated with new resources, also includes a history of the casteller event and a selection of interesting links on the subject.

In parallel, from the CRAI campus Catalonia and with the support of the Chair, work is also being done on the special collection “Fet casteller”, a large collection that includes all the documentary resources on castells acquired by the CRAI, either by purchase or through different donations. Essay books, encyclopedias, biographies, group magazines and children’s literature, among many other formats. The aim is for the CRAI of the URV to become a reference resource center on casteller topics.
