It is the sixth university in the State to appear in this ranking, which has evaluated the 1,904 best universities in the world

The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) has been placed in position 501-600 of the World University Rankings 2024 that “Times Higher Education” (THE) presented last Wednesday, September 27. The ranking evaluates the 1,904 best universities in the world, 105 more than last year, and the URV has moved up from the range 601-800 to 501-600.

In this edition, the twentieth, the methodology has been updated to reflect the results of research-intensive universities. The URV stands out especially in the area of research quality, in which it was awarded 68.1 points out of 100, on the basis of the indicators citation rate and research strength, excellence and influence.

The fourth in Catalonia and the sixth in Spain as a whole

The URV is sixth out of the 56 public and private universities listed, a position it shares with three other universities: Universitat Complutense de Madrid, Universitat de Granada and Universitat de Valencia. Three public Catalan universities head the list of the best universities in Spain as a whole: Universitat de Barcelona (152), Autònoma de Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra (201-250), followed by URV, the fourth Catalan university.

The 2024 edition of the ranking shows, once again, the dominance of British and American universities. The first five positions in the world are occupied by the universities of Oxford, Stanford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard and Cambridge.
