In a funny way, the app fosters the learning of new vocabulary, accelerates reading comprehension in academic texts and helps the student improve reading strategies

 Linking English learning and games: that is the purpose of the European project StratApp with StratApp – The Art of Reading, a mobile application which encourages university students to improve their reading comprehension in English.

In a funny way, the app fosters the learning of new vocabulary, accelerates reading comprehension in academic texts and helps the student improve reading strategies.

The use of the application is very simple. Once the player has signed in, a test will place him at the corresponding level (B1 or B2). From that point, players will be completing minigames and collecting badges until they successfully complete the full game. The objective is to familiarize the student with new and necessary strategies to become an efficient reader in English.

The texts and activities have been designed by academics from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), both located in Catalonia.

An Erasmus+ Project, coordinated by the URV,

StratApp, short for Strategies App, is an Erasmus+ Project, coordinated by the URV, with the participation of the UAB, the Wyższa Szkoła Lingwistyczna Częstochowie, from Poland, and the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, from France.

At the technological forefront, the app has been developed by Amistad, whereas the Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya collaborates in the dissemination and generation of reports.

The application is available for iOS and Android devices. Players can give feedback to StratApp – The Art of Reading by filling out a survey available in Catalan, Spanish, English, French and Polish. Your feedback will help us improving user’s experience with the app.
