The Catalan Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution (IPHES) has received the ‘HR Excellence in Research‘ award from the European Commission for promoting the general principles of the European Charter for Researchers (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, HRS4R ), and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, Charter & Code. The award was also given for the IPHES’ commitment to improving its internal policies and procedures.

The IPHES team employs around 60 members of staff.

The ‘HR Excellence in Research’ award represents an opportunity for the IPHES to consolidate a comprehensive and coherent Human Resources Strategy that will enable it to achieve an international reputation as a research environment based on equal opportunities, ethical integrity and a healthy work-life balance.

The IPHES’ HRS4R Action Plan was drawn up by a working group in a participatory and open process involving representatives from all of its research areas. The four central pillars of the plan are ethical and professional issues, recruitment, working conditions and social security, and training.
