This is the second year in a row that Chemistry at the URV is among the best 100 universities in the world, being the only in Spain located in the top 100

University Rovira i Virgili is the number one in Spain in the discipline of Chemistry and the only in the top 100 according to Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2020 for the second consecutive year. This ranking analyzes more than 4000 universities classified in 54 disciplines. The results are established upon the quantity, quality and impact of the research in each institution, as well as the scope of international collaboration and the number of staff recognized with awards.

This international recognition is in addition to others obtained in recent years in the field of Chemistry. Thus, the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 and the Times Higher Education The World university rankings by subject 2020 place the URV top-300 in the world.

It is also important to remark that the Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the URV is the only Degree in Chemistry in Catalonia which, in addition to be accredited with excellence by the agency for the quality of the university system of Catalonia (AQU), accredits an interaction between research and excellent teaching (AQU). This recognition is granted when the institution actively promotes that training programs incorporate the research that teachers develop in that discipline to improve the student learning and outcomes.

From academic year 2017-2018, the Faculty of Chemistry of the URV offers the Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry entirely in English, with the aim of improving the use and learning of English among its students and for internationalizing the studies.

Recently, the Faculty of Chemistry has certified its Internal Quality Assurance System, highlighting in support systems for learning and students, an item considered in an advanced state of implementation, and in the academic staff section, in which four of the six aspects analyzed in this dimension have been assessed with the highest rating. Additionally, it is one of the top 10 accredited centers in Catalonia.
