From 13 to 20 August, the URV participated in the 10th Nelson Mandela University Family Week in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The goal of this Family Week is enhancing collaboration and fostering an open dialogue to promote internationalisation and interesting international opportunities among NMU partners.

Nelson Mandela University is a URV partner within the Erasmus+ programme KA107, which enables reciprocal visits of staff and students. Moreover, NMU and the URV are both members of the International Network of Universities and are thus strategic partners. Within this framework of cooperation, the URV participated in this year’s Nelson Mandela University Family Week in August. This is an event that brings together all the partners of this South African institution for a week of meetings, networking events and an internationalisation colloquium which this year was about internationalisation as a connector or divider of global and local interaction. The URV participated as respondent to one of the main presenters of this Higher Education colloquium.

This year’s Family Week was attended by about 40 participants from institutions in the USA, Germany, Botswana, Namibia, France, Mexico, Italy and Spain to name just a few. In the informal setting of the activities and networking platforms, partners were able to find more avenues of cooperation, interesting opportunities and further possibilities to collaborate. At the end of November the URV will receive a visit from Nico Jooste, the Senior Director of the Office of International Education at Nelson Mandela University.
