A delegation from Beijing learns about teaching and research in health

During the visit, various opportunities were explored for collaboration between China and the URV, the IISPV and the Sant Joan University Hospital in Reus

On 19 June, the URV, the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute (IISPV) and the Sant Joan University Hospital in Reus (HUSJR) were visited by a Chinese delegation specialising in technology and knowledge transfer in the ambit of biohealth and biotechnology. The three institutions gave a joint presentation on the teaching and research that they carry out in the ambit of healthcare.

The Chinese delegation consisted of Zhang Xiangyong, the director of the Barcelona Office of the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Development and Promotion Center; Cao Jianrong and Zhao Yi, the president and the director of operations at Beijing Ludaopei Biotechnology; Yu Chunling, a representative of the Zhongguancun YiChuang Alliance for the Technological Innovation of Intellectual Property; Wu Wen, the assistant general director of Beijing Tongrentang Health Pharmaceutics; Wu Xiaobing, the executive dean of the Beijing YiChuang Biotechnology Industry Research Institute; and Lou Mei, a representative of the Association for Promoting the Technological Innovation Alliance of the Beijing Economic Development Zone.

Àurea Rodríguez, director of EURECAT, received the delegation at the Nutrition and Health R+D+i Building. They were then shown round the Sant Joan University Hospital in Reus by Joan Gené, director of Services and Resources, and Mar Baiget from the European Projects Unit of the IISPV.

The hospital also hosted a presentation of the faculty and the URV, which was attended by representatives of IISPV, Joan Vendrell, director; Xavier Correig, head researcher; and Elisabet Galve, director of the technical office. The URV was represented by the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, John Style; the director of the Postgraduate and Doctoral School, Josep Ribalta; and the dean and vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Antonio Castro and Fàtima Sabench.
