A new internationalisation project promotes learning opportunities for students

The universities participating in the Inclusive Comprehensive Internationalisation project have met at the URV

Members of the first meeting of the ICI project.

The Inclusive Comprehensive Internationalisation project (ICI) is led by the URV and was launched on 3 and 4 March at the Campus Catalunya to promote global opportunities for international learning for all students. This project aims to co-create equal opportunities so that all students benefit from internationalisation, regardless of their education, orientation or skills. It therefore seeks to improve their international and intercultural skills from a global perspective to help them create a more peaceful and sustainable world.

The first face-to-face meeting of the project was attended by the major partner universities: the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, representing Spain; Stiching Hogeschool van Amsterdam, from the Netherlands; the Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, from Poland; the Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II, from Italy; Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulu oy, from Finland; and Gregersen-Hermans Consultancy, also from the Netherlands. All these partners are working together on the project to improve the international, online and blended learning experiences of young people in an inclusive environment and to support them in their professional development.

The associated institutions of the project are the Erasmus Student Network Finland, the Aurora and the U!REKA networks, the SGroup, and the Universidad Nacional del Litoral, in Argentina.

“The ICI stands out for the benefits it can bring to all students without exception, and for its ability to rethink and co-create global and truly integrated internationalisation at all levels within our universities to contribute to the open, tolerant and committed society that we want”, says the head of the International Center, Marina Casals.

They have also decided to spread the ICI vision to the home cities of the major partners where they will organise the “ICI Festivals”. The festival objectives are to showcase the inclusion of students, to inspire them, to develop the programme and to show a sense of community at the participating universities.
