From February 22 to March 7, 2023, the Catalunya campus CRAI hosts the exhibition “Agricultural Communities in the Penedès, 1936-1939”, curated by Ramon Arnabat Mata and Guillem Puig Valverdú and produced by the Institut d’Estudis Penedès with the support from the Democratic Memorial and the Ministry of the Presidency.
Through 15 panels, the formation and operation of the agricultural communities in Penedès during the Spanish Civil War are explained. The objective is to facilitate the understanding of these community peasant initiatives within the framework of the economic and social transformations that took place in Catalonia from July 1936.
Agricultural collectives, although often forgotten, are part of our history and the democratic memory of our country.
The exhibition is available in the lobby of the Catalunya campus CRAI and is complemented by the lecture by Ramon Arnabat (ISOCAC-URV) and Guillem Puig (UB-URV) on “Agrarian Collectivities in Catalonia (1936-1939)”, on the February 28 from 12:00 to 14:00 hours.
This exhibition is part of the 1st Cycle of Contemporary History and the Current World “Thinking historically about current affairs” organized by the consolidated research group ISOCAC of the URV, and which will take place in the “Sala de Graus” of the Catalunya campus on February 28 , March 15 and April 27.
