The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) held the latest edition of the Aurora Student Conference at Catalunya Campus on 14 and 15 February. It gathered a total of 27 students from Aurora members and associated universities.

During the Conference, participants were presented with all the opportunities offered by the Alliance to new members of the Aurora Student Council, ambassadors and champions of the student volunteering programme for the academic year 2023-24. Particular focus was put on the training available to these students, which aims to strengthen interdisciplinary skills such as intercultural communication, public speaking and other abilities that help to increase the internationalisation of their universities.

The participants also shared the different initiatives implemented by each university in terms of inclusion and diversity, the topic that Aurora students are working on this year. To explore both topics in greater depth, the programme contained the interactive session “Aurora Peer-Learning Workshop: Diversity and Inclusivity” and the activity “World Café: The Impact of Aurora”, in which Montse Pinent, vice rector for Teaching Projects and Students, also took part.

In the opening session, the rector of the URV, Josep Pallarès, and the commissioner for International Networks, Joan-Miquel Canals, gave a welcome speech in which they emphasised the importance of the Aurora alliance for the internationalisation of the URV and its key role in integrating into the European framework. They also thanked the participants for their commitment to the objectives shared by all Aurora universities.

Afterwards, attendants took part in the activities “Language Quiz”, “Cultural Speed Dating”, and “Let’s (traditionally) Dance!”, organised by the Language and Publications Service and the International Center, which gave them the chance to interact with international students who have arrived at the URV this semester.
