The Association of Nativity Scene Makers in Tarragona has organized the exhibition “Nativity scene: history, culture, and tradition” which can be visited until January 9.
Cori Camps, vice chancellor for Institutional Relations, Culture, and Social Commitment, and Josep Maria Borrut, president of the Association of Nativity Scene Makers in Tarragona opened the exhibition.
The Association of Nativity Scene Makers in Tarragona was founded on December 3, 1928, aiming to promote the nativity scene among people from Tarragona. Therefore, this exhibition seeks to bring the nativity scene closer to the university community.
The exhibition is made up of different books that belonged to the institution and some partners. The books have been divided into different categories: Christmas history, ethnography, and the nativity scene; construction, characters, and tradition of the nativity scene around the world.
In addition, there is a historical documentation video of the institution and some of the works carried out by nativity scene specialists in Tarragona. There are also mockups divided into four stages that show the whole construction process of a nativity scene.
You can also visit the nativity scene exhibition “Nativity scene: from the traditional to the artistic one” in l’Antiga Audiència (Pl. del Pallol, 3, Tarragona).
