The exhibition at the Medicine and Health Sciences CRAI

The Spanish Association Against Cancer commemorates the work carried out over the past 50 years with the traveling exhibition “50 years changing the history of cancer”. In this exhibition, you will learn about their mission and you will discover people involved in research and improvement in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer, such as Itziar Salaverría or Mariano Barbacid.

The Medicine and Health Sciences CRAI (Reus) will host the exhibition from October 25 to November 6 on the first floor. The exhibition will then travel to CRAI campus Terres de l’Ebre and CRAI Catalunya. Check the tour schedule here.

With headquarters in Tarragona and Spain, the AECC is a non-profit organization made up of patients, relatives, volunteers, collaborators, and professionals. The organization leads the effort of the Spanish society to reduce the impact caused by cancer and to improve people’s lives. Its work is based on three main areas: the promotion of research, health education, and personal support and accompaniment.

The exhibition consists of 13 roll-ups that reflect the history of the AECC. This historical review covers the creation of the association or the description of the most important achievements and last advances in research to which it has supported. The AECC has been awarding research grants since 1983 and it currently supports 401 projects that cover most areas related to this disease.

The research grants for this year 2021 are:

  • Talent grants: support for researchers throughout their careers.
  • Project grants: funding for research projects that respond to a clinical need.
  • Globalization grants: encouraging the participation of researchers in international networks.
