To coincide with the start of the university year, the Catalan Department of Health and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) have set up three walk-in vaccination points on the Catalunya and Bellissens campuses with the following opening times:
- Campus Catalunya (Avinguda Catalunya, 35 in Tarragona): 13/09/21 to 16/09/21, from 9.00 to 13.00 and 16.00 to 20.00.
- Bellissens Campus (Avinguda de la Universitat, 4 in Reus): 13/09/21 and 14/09/21 from 8:30 to 13:30, and 16/09/21 from 15.00 to 19:00.
- Campus Sescelades (Avinguda Països Catalans de Tarragona): 21/09/21 from 9.00 to 13.00 and 16.00 to 20.00.
The latest information on the vaccination points and their opening times can be found at the website urv.cat/vacuna.
First doses of the vaccine will be administered to all people who are part of the university community and to any members of the population over 12 years of age in the Camp de Tarragona Health Region. All people who receive their first dose on the URV’s campuses will receive an SMS on their mobile phones with an appointment for their second dose.
The Camp de Tarragona Health Region and the URV are joining forces to bring COVID-19 vaccination closer to the university community in order to ensure that the maximum number of people on its campuses have been fully immunized at the start of the academic year. The initiative increases the opportunities for vaccination among younger people, a process essential to achieving group immunity and to enabling the academic year to begin in greater safety and with maximum attendance on campus.
Current vaccination rates in the Camp de Tarragona Health Region are 64.5% among 16-19 year olds, 55.8% among 20-29 year olds, and 56.2% among 30-34 year olds.
The walk-in vaccination points at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili will operate in addition to the other vaccination points distributed throughout the towns of Tarragona, Reus, Valls and Calafell. These points continue to offer vaccinations by appointment, which allows health professionals to plan more effectively, but they also offer periods when members of the public can just walk in and receive a vaccination without prior notice.
