The researchers are part of the Martí i Franquès COFUND Fellowship Programme which is jointly funded by the European Union as part of its Horizon 2020 programme. On 16 December, the Universitat Rovira i Virgili once again hosted a visit from American universities participating in the annual activity organised by Eduespaña. In 2011 the URV was also visited by representatives from American universities through Eduespaña
Research by the URV has demonstrated, for the first time, that the polyphenols in grapes can re-establish the control mechanism that the brain has on appetite and which is altered in obesity. The study reports that adding these phenols to the diet of obese individuals, in conjunction with other therapies, would be a good strategy to reduce the appetite and the excess of body fat
