In its general assembly on 7 September in Madrid, the CRUE agreed to implement universities measures to help refugees arriving in the country, in particular refugee students and teachers

The document states: “Spanish universities cannot remain indifferent to the plight of refugees that we have been witnessing in recent months. Therefore, all Spanish universities attending the CRUE’s General Assembly on 7 September 2015, without prejudice to individual actions that each may take, agree the following:

1. To enable university access for refugee students who are university students in their country of origin
2. To enable collaboration with Spanish universities for refugees who are university professors in their country of origin
3. To promote volunteer activities among students in cooperation with other members and representatives of the administration, especially in disciplines most directly related to this social issue
