Living through the pandemic away from home
International students who have remained in Tarragona and local students who have not been able to return home at the end of their studies abroad describe their lockdown experiences

Almost 170 current and former students from the URV’s degrees in Medicine and Nursing form part of staff at healthcare centres, after being contracted to help relieve the pressure on healthcare professionals during the Covid-19 pandemic
Classes will finish in accordance with the academic calendar but the assessment period will be extended until 16 July for students who are not undergoing continuous assessment and for subjects that cannot be assessed online
Half of the URV’s 55 university masters offered in 2020-21 will be taught online or combination of online and classroom-based learning (blended) or will allow students to decide if they want to study in the classroom or online. Pre-registration is now open on the University’s website

Alba Buendía is a student on the URV’s Bachelor’s Degree in English and has spinal muscular atrophy, a disease that leads to the loss of muscle mass. For this reason she has started a crowd funding campaign so that she can get the assistance she needs in order to complete her studies at York Saint John University (United Kingdom)

Bryan Percy Saldivar, international fellow at the Faculty of Chemistry, aims to create a predictive model capable of suggesting the most suitable diet for patients given their health condition, that would reduce clinical screening time and cost
Local participants can learn about Chinese culture and phrases in Chinese for daily use through conversation with Chinese students

The URV welcomes international students
More than 300 students have come to the University this year through mobility programmes
Juan Pablo Muñoz recently won the Explorer programme for entrepreneurs in Tarragona and has undergone extensive training at international institutions and universities through specialist programmes for students
The GRATET Research Group, with the support of URV Solidària, provides the working methodology so that local stakeholders can draw up a tourism plan
The summer school, involving universities from five countries, will take place at the URV in 2020 via a European mobility project
Sebastiano Cattaruzzo, awarded a grant by Martí i Franquès COFUND Doctoral Fellowship Programme, is writing his thesis about finance, R&D and automation of manufacturing industries
Sadaf Davari is studying the Master in Chemical Engineering of the URV. She has recently won the Work Experience Award from the BASF SONATRACH PropanChem SA and the ETSEQ
