ICon grants are offered for mobility stays to Brazil

The objective is to launch this programme in the near future for the rest of countries in the Latin America region

The SGroup has launched the InterContinental Academic Exchange Programme (ICon) in recognition of the long-standing links between the members of the network and Latin American universities.

The grants aim to promote and facilitate collaboration between SGroup members and their overseas partners through a short mobility scheme for academic and administrative staff members. Under the ICon Programme, member universities can apply for a scholarship of €1000 from the SGroup to visit a partner institution of their choice from the ICon Partnership.

The main objectives of this programme are:

  • To facilitate collaboration in research and education between the EU and Latin America;
  • To encourage joint projects that can be submitted for EU funding and other relevant programmes;
  • To promote true partnerships through signing co-tutored joint/double degrees.

The ICon Partnership currently consists of the SGroup members in Europe and member universities of the FAUBAI in Brazil. In the coming months the programme will be expanded to other Latin American countries and also to other regions for strategic collaboration.

Further information about the programme is available at the URV’s mobility website.
